About the Role - The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the execution, financial performance, and operational efficiency of assigned construction projects. This role involves managing traveling superintendents, coordinating project activities, and ensuring client satisfaction by delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on expertise in project management, a proactive problem-solving approach, and strong organizational skills. This position will require travel across multiple project sites (Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Wisconsin, Kentucky, and Iowa)
Responsibilities
Project Oversight & Execution:
- Oversee all aspects of construction projects, from planning through to completion, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with superintendents and subcontractors to manage daily on-site activities.
- Lead pre-construction planning, scope reviews, budgeting, and scheduling with stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with all building codes, safety regulations, and company standards.
Client Relationship Management
- Act as the main point of contact for clients, architects, and subcontractors, ensuring consistent communication and alignment on expectations.
- Participate in client meetings, providing high-level project reporting.
- Address client concerns promptly to maintain satisfaction.
Budgeting & Financial Oversight
- Manage project budgets, ensuring profitability while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Monitor cost control and collaborate with finance teams to provide accurate forecasting and financial reporting.
Resource Allocation and Scheduling
- Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
- Balance project demands across multiple states, managing logistics to minimize downtime and costs.
Contract & Risk Management:
- Oversee contract negotiations with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure favorable terms and minimize risk.
- Implement risk management strategies to identify potential issues early and develop mitigation plans.
- Ensure compliance with all legal and contractual obligations.
Safety & Compliance:
- Promote and enforce a strong culture of safety across all project sites.
- Ensure that safety protocols and procedures are consistently followed by all team members and subcontractors.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and other industry safety standards.
Qualifications
Experience:
- Minimum 7-10 years of construction industry experience, including project management roles.
- Proven experience in managing large-scale construction projects across multiple locations, with ownership of P&L.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Advanced certifications such as PMP, LEED, or OSHA 30 a plus.
Skills:
- Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to manage diverse teams in multiple locations.
- In-depth knowledge of construction processes, project management, and cost control.
- Proficiency with construction management software and financial reporting tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface with clients, stakeholders, and executives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on operational efficiency and profitability.
Other Requirements:
- Willingness to travel regularly to various project locations across multiple states.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s license.
