The Compliance team at Sparrow serves as the in-house specialists on the regulatory landscape for consumer financial services, ensuring that the company maintains adherence to applicable regulations and laws. You will be joining a tightly-knit, collaborative team of professionals, where you’ll have the opportunity to work cross-functionally with members of different teams, including Product, Fraud, and Customer Support, to ensure that Sparrow remains at the forefront of regulatory compliance.
About The Role
We’re seeking a talented and ambitious individual to assist with fostering a culture of compliance as we embark on a journey of remarkable growth. As the Compliance Analyst, you will be a key player in ensuring the integrity of our products, and influencing critical decisions that safeguard both the financial futures of our customers and our business. You will assist with a number of important tasks related to our Compliance Management System, including the execution of internal testing, oversight of vendor management, monitoring federal & state law and regulation changes, aiding in the review & revision of our policies & procedures, assisting in the preparation of reports, and maintaining meeting minutes for Board of Directors and/or committee meetings.
This position will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Sparrow’s Compliance Management System by ensuring that our practices are in-line with regulatory requirements while delivering timely and accurate information to our customers. As the Compliance Analyst, you will help ensure our business operates within the bounds of applicable consumer financial regulations as we continue to grow.
This role will report to the Director of Compliance.
In This Role, You Will
- Conduct internal compliance tests to identify gaps, evaluate internal controls, and recommend improvements to our practices on an ongoing and regular basis.
- Assist in managing various forms of compliance documentation, including policies, procedures, and any testing findings.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure effective implementation of compliance programs and initiatives.
- Provide support with company risk assessments and contribute to the development of risk mitigation strategies, as necessary.
- Ensure that thorough meeting minutes are maintained from Board and committee meetings.
- Complete additional duties, as directed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent professional experience), and at least two (2) years of consumer compliance experience, preferably in the banking, lending, or fintech industries.
- A strong understanding of key consumer protection regulations, including but not limited to: UDAAP, ECOA/Fair Lending, TILA (including the CARD Act), FCRA, FACTA, SCRA, MLA, FDCPA and TCPA.
- Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Knowledge in performing and/or overseeing internal control reviews, quality assessments, compliance testing or audits.
- Self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced and continually changing environment.
- Strengths in self-management, attention to details, analytical & critical thinking, organizational skills and project management.
- Exemplary relationship management and an ability to interface effectively with other departments, executive management, banking partners and committees/Board of Directors.
